What are the Seven Principles of the Red Cross Society?
- Humanity: Its main objective is to protect life and health and to ensure respect for every human being. It is to cooperate and promote friendship and mutual understanding among all people and to help the needy.
- Impartiality: There should be no discrimination on the basis of national religious beliefs, class or political views. The foremost objective should be to help people only on the basis of their need and give priority to urgent cases in times of crisis.
- Neutrality: The main objective of this principle is that people should be helped. They should not be influenced by movements, politics and religious ideological disputes.
- Independence: We all know that this movement is freedom. The national committees, while assisting their governments in humanitarian services and remaining subject to the laws of their respective countries, should always keep their word so that they can always act according to the principles of the movement. The people should get information about it. They can use it freely.
- Voluntary Service: It is a voluntary relief movement not prompted in any manner by desire for gain.
- Unity: This is a voluntary relief movement which is not motivated by any desire for profit in any way.
- Universality: The International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement in which all societies and peoples are given respect and status and are inspired to help one another as their duty to help everyone.
