63-hour mega block to hit Mumbai local train services starting midnight today: A 63-hour mega block chain has been implemented from Thursday midnight due to which the services of local trains are being greatly affected due to the work being carried out on the platforms on the Mumbai network by the Central Railway. During this block period, services of both local and long distance trains are being greatly disrupted. We feel that there will be a lot of problems in long distance trains as well. Therefore, the railways have requested passengers not to travel in local trains unless necessary, they should use gram flour.

This action will cause disruption in the daily routine of thousands of passengers as many people travel by local trains and will face inconvenience.
Rajneesh Goyal, Railway Manager, Mumbai Division, Central Railway, told in a press conference on Wednesday that a 63-hour mega block for the widening of platform number 5 and 6 will start from Thursday midnight. While a 36-hour block for the work related to the expansion of platform number 10 and 11 started from Friday midnight.
Central Railway operates over 1,800 local train services daily on its four corridors: Main, Harbour, Trans-Harbour and Uran, serving 30 lakh passengers.
Central Railway officials say that under normal circumstances, the platform widening work at Thane station can take about 3 months to complete. However, Central Railway has implemented a new technology due to which this entire work which takes 3 months will be completed in just three days.

Details of the block
- This mega block will greatly help in the platform extension and widening activities at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus and Thane station in South Mumbai. This will also help the passengers.
- Central Railway has announced cancellation of 161 local train services on Friday, 534 on Saturday and 235 on Sunday during Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus and Thane mega block
- Once the platform is widened, various facilities will be provided on the platform. Facilities like foot over bridge, escalator and wide bird cages will be included.
- According to PTI, Chief Public Relations Officer of Central Railway Swapnil Nila said that 72 mail express trains and 956 suburban trains will be cancelled on the main and herbal corridors from Friday to Sunday. Nila stressed that during the block, employees should be allowed to work from home so that people can be comfortable. There is no need to go to the office. Alternative ways should be found to reduce the number of passengers.
- The Railway Department has also requested the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation to run additional Washi trains for the convenience of the passengers so that they do not face any inconvenience.
- According to Central Railway, the work for platform extension at CAST and platform widening at Thane should be completed by 3:30 pm on Sunday.
- Platforms 10 and 11 of CAST are being lengthened to accommodate 24 coach trains and the mega block mainly consists of non-interlocking work.
- Initially 956 local trains were planned to be cancelled, but later 26 services were kept running. During the block period, trains will be short terminal and short originating from Central Railway Dadar Thane Wadala Nashik and Panvel stations.
- Railways has made a new plan to eliminate 44 suburban services in the short term, including 306 on Friday and 131 on Saturday and Sunday, while 446 local train services will start running from various stations.
- Central Railway has almost completed the work of double discharge facility on platforms 10 and 11 at Dadar station and in the next two days, they will complete the remaining work as well and the train will start running again.63-hour mega block to hit Mumbai local train services starting midnight today.
